A short foreword. I'm not going to talk about all US guys and girls. I saw many badass US citizens, and I know that there are more like them back in the US. I just want to post a small note about not-so-badass folks I saw during my activities.

I always wondered why some of US staff members were so... picky about their food? I heard comments like 'What? Beef jerky again? Aw, maaan!' on a daily basis. Or 'Lemon drink? Ew. Who wants my lemon drink?' (or was it 'lemonade'?) My guys and I were always like 'Ow, really...' Maybe it was a difference in cultures, or maybe they were too spoiled by easy-to-get supplies, but such behaviour was strange for us to observe.

I sooo dreamed to leave them alone in a middle of nowhere for a week or so without any food. I was young and a bit sadistic, so right now I'm quite ashamed of those fantasies. But back then it seemed like a good idea to teach them to respect their food.

Don't pay attention, I'm just ranting. Saw a youtube video of another 'survivalist' and his attempts at eating MRE. It brought some memories.

We had our own food, so I can't say much about the taste of that drink.

And yes, I trust you. I'm sure that it was some kind of artificial crap with vitamins or something.

there are a fair number of things I don't want to eat (peppers for instance) but I cannot think of something I WONT eat off the top of my head. survival trumps both flavor and morals

my experience was I had the same jerky or lemon stuff every single day for weeks or months before some verity got thrown in, or the god awful hotdogs. Hnng...but that was a problem with distribution lots of the same shit before finally, finally getting something different.

Hey, cardboard doesn't taste bad, it's just bland and tasteless. And why would they complain about having beef jerky???

As one of my superiors once said 'If it helps you to survive and accomplish your task - eat it!'

I guess it's like that 'candy effect'. You know, when you eat candies every day you stop seeing them as something nice and sweet, and they become just a boring everyday food for you.

Well, off I go to eat a knife now...

Yea, I guess so. But hey, I don't know about you, but I don't think I'd get tired of beef jerky. Yea, sure it tastes like leather after a while, but that's the reason I like it xD

I can see why you don't like squishy food. Not the most pleasant sensation when you chew it.

Interesting info? I hope that it's not another 'Russian black ops teams were behind those events' stories. Really, even I, an average foreigner, aware that Russians are not _that_ evil. )
